Church of Retter
The teachings of Retter were passed down for several generations by word of mouth. The keepers of the tales of his exploits were given the moniker of Keepers. In the days just after Retter’s death the Keepers each told their own version of his story. Most of the Keepers told the same story with only minor differences, but some told radically different tales, and cults sprang up around them. In order to contain the madness three Keepers came together to put the words and deeds of Retter in writing. The three Keepers were the last to wear the honorable title, and they put into place the first Speaker.
The Speaker is the one uniting force across the land, and they alone have the power pass down edicts in the name of Retter and the four Gods themselves. Most Speakers use this rarely, and in their time there has only been six Edicts, and pillars by which modern Retterians practice their faith.
